Becoming a mum doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to your confidence and style! Being a yummy mummy is all about embracing your new lifestyle and feeling positive and confident in your outfit choices. Feeling good can make the world of difference to your day to day life while raising tiny humans {the most important job in the world!}.  As a stylist I have worked with so many lovely mums struggling with embracing their new curves and making the most out of their current wardrobe. Choosing the right clothing and putting your best self forward will transform the way you embrace the yummy mummy within!

Spring is often the busiest time of year for mums with birthday parties, girls luncheons, special events, play dates, BBQ’s and often more outdoor sports than usual. With the social season upon us I’ve decided to share some inspiration for mums who want a {little extra} spring in their step and some creative, stress free outfit ideas.

A Chic Playsuit-
There’s just something about playsuits and jumpsuits that I LOVE! They are such a fun and simplistic wardrobe piece. With this particular playsuit that I’m wearing, it’s not only a comfortable style but it’s flattering for most body shapes as it hides tummy troubles. You can wear the sleeves long if you want to wear it in the evening for a dressier occasion and it will look perfect with your favourite pair of heels and a nice clutch or tote. Roll up the sleeves during the day for a more casual look and pair it with a hat and flats to enjoy the outdoors.

The Casual Short-
Comfortable clothing is always an important element to consider in all of my clients wardrobes! A super comfy pair of shorts in the warmer months can be worn both casually or dressed up with a nice top, jacket and sandals. This versatile item is a piece that that I recommend every mummy should have in their wardrobe for this spring and summer.

White Layering-
We all know that white is a no-no for busy mums with bubs as it’s just asking for grubby little hands to touch it or for that oh so important coffee to be spilled all over it!!   So this is for the mums who put aside some {kid free} girl time for herself which every woman deserves to do for a healthy balanced lifestyle. Whether it’s catching up with a friend for coffee, going to a special event, high tea or a nice family gathering, white is perfect for lifting an outfit whilst adding a freshness and clean look to your style.
I’ve layered these gorgeous waist tie shorts {perfect for this seasons style!} with a long white vest jacket over a rusty pink linen tee.
This look would be perfectly teamed with beige or tan sandals, flats, espadrilles, sneakers or even heels.

Denim Edit-
I love when a denim trend comes along and you can turn to your trusty pair of jeans that you can’t seem to live without.
I’m being a bit more adventurous this spring with the denim skirt as I’m not usually one for skirts and dresses but as you can see the one I’m wearing has a nice casual frayed edge and rose gold button detail.
This is also easily dressed up as a smart casual skirt when teamed with a nice blazer and sandals.

Block Heel Sandals-
The most comfortable shoe style- the block heel which thank goodness has been on trend for some time now. Serving our ankles and arches in our feet a little better than the traditional pump and stick thin heels!
These heels are much easier to walk in, run errands {or after kids}, coffees and also add that bit of height to those legs to give an outfit that extra wow factor.

Small/Mini Cross-body Bag-
A small compact cross-body bag is perfect when you don’t need to lug too much stuff around and know that you will be needing just the key mummy essentials for the day. Invest in a good quality bag as it makes such a difference to an outfit and they last longer. Preferably a bag with a cross-body strap so you don’t need to hold onto it like you usually would with a larger tote. It makes life so much easier when you are running after little ones and multi-tasking.

Panama Hat-
A hat is so important for sun protection and the perfect way to look stylish while out and about with the kids.  A good quality straw hat should last you through many Springs and Summers!   Adding a panama hat to a casual or smart casual look will always be the perfect finishing touch, plus it’s a great way to lead by example and show your kids how important sun protection is.
