The White Shirt Three Ways

women with white shirt

This week’s blog is a lesson in never underestimating the trusty white shirt! I want to show you how to style this timeless wonder three ways, from corporate to casual and creative. Add some accessories, a splash of metallic and a pair of the season’s hottest footwear, the sneaker, and you’re on your way…

TY-LR Luxe Silk Shirt

1. THE BOSS LADY

Hansen & Gretel Huntington skirt, Tom Ford Icon Tote Bag,  Senso Opal shoes

This outfit is great for the corporate go-getter or any woman wanting to exude a powerful yet feminine ‘boss lady’ look. The gold buckle detail and luxe wool fabric combine work and play, and I always feel elegant yet sophisticated in the gorgeous silk shirt that is floaty with a touch of edge. On this occasion I was meeting with a woman in business to consult with her over coffee, and I always like to look my best as a stylist on these occasions. The black and white look is smart enough for work, but still on-trend and stylish. The nude Senso shoes tie in beautifully with my favourite blush coloured Tom Ford bag, while the gold hardware breaks up the monochrome look and adds a more relaxed feel. Lace-up heels add a sexy injection, so you can take this outfit from work, straight to drinks.

2. THE CREATIVE

Janessa Leone hat, White Suede choker, Willow coat, Watson X Watson leather skirt, Urban Soul sneakers

This outfit is a little more casual and I love to wear this style when I’m running around the city sourcing outfits for clients. The sneakers are oh-so on trend and ideal if you’re going to be on your feet all day, which I am, or even if you’re not, they have a way of exuding that cool, creative style. A timeless black coat like the Willow one I’m wearing is a staple every woman should have in her wardrobe, and I love the way it falls with a  feminine hemline that adds a softness to any outfit. A purchase like this will keep you warm, comfy and stylish all at the same time (and that’s what we all want right?). This Watson X Watson number is a little on the pricier side, but for leather, it’s better to invest in quality so you know it will last you season after season.

3. THE LAID-BACK

Natalie Chapman choker, Paige jeans, Urban Soul sneakers, Marc Jacobs watch, Celine sunglasses

This look is for those wanting to be as comfy as possible while still looking a little slick. I love these khaki jeans as an alternative to black and blue denim, and they’re great for any casual or smart casual occasion. I like to wear them with sneakers like these but you could easily pair these threads with just about anything, from boots for those chilly days, heels for weekend lunch dates or even espadrilles or flats. The key to this look, once again, is the simple white shirt, but don’t forget a few accessories like this cool Natalie Chapman choker to add some variety to your outfit!
